I haven't received my confirmation email

A confirmation email to validate your email address is sent automatically after submitting the registration form. In case that you don't receive any email within an hour after registering please contact the administrators (leakageforum@ex.ac.uk).

Yes! Since 2007 the business model of the forum has changed and the membership is FREE.

How to register and become a member?

To register and become a member of the Leakage Forum please follow this link. To prevent spammers from getting access to the forum the registration consists of several steps:

  1. Submit the registration form
  2. Receive a confirmation e-mail (This e-mail is sent automatically by the system and you should receive it within a few minutes. Please check your junk mail folder and if you don't receive the confirmation e-mail within 24 hours contact the administrator on the e-mail address below)
  3. Follow the instructions in the e-mail and visit the suggested link to confirm your e-mail address
  4. Wait for the forum administrators to approve your registration (this can take up to several working days)
  5. You will receive an e-mail that your registration to the forum is successful.

Can I register as an individual or as an institution?

Only individuals are allowed to register. However, feel free to update your user profile after registration and add write your institution's name into the "Location" field.

How to unregister?

If you feel that you no longer want to be a member of the Leakage Forum please contact the administrators (leakageforum@ex.ac.uk) and request deletion of your account. We would be very thankful if you could provide us with a reason why you decided to cancel your membership in order to be able to improve the quality of the forum in the future.

I want to start a private conversation with selected people on a sensitive topic.

The site should enable you to setup private conversations which are only viewable by yourself, the site administrators and any other parties you decide to allow into the conversation.

How to change a user name?

In order to change your user name please contact the system administrators by email (leakageforum@exeter.ac.uk) and provide them with your current user name and the new one.

I suspect that someone I didn't authorize has viewed my private conversation.

Please remember that any private conversation can be viewed by anyone with access to the user-names you choose to let into the conversation and by the administrators. Also, the site includes only modest security, it does not, at present, include secure socket layer (SSL) technology similar to that used by banks and other financial institutions. If you consider this to be a requirement, then please e-mail the webmaster and if we receive enough requests we may implement this system.
